Out of all the great oils out there, why did these four make the cut and what can they do for you?
Castor
A lot of people are afraid of applying oil to their hair and skin because their skin is already oily. The reality is you can strip your skin of its natural moisture by applying products without adequate moisturizing capabilities. And what happens when your skin is dry? It makes more oil. Excess oil production leads to inflammation like acne and dandruff and the vicious cycle continues.
Castor oil nourishes your scalp and hair with heavy hydration and increases your skin’s moisture retention, so it stays hydrated longer. Hydrating your skin regularly with a penetrating oil will result in a reduction in oil production. Castor oil has a low comedogenic score, meaning it’s not likely to clog your pores.
Hydrogenated castor oil is castor oil that’s been heated and filtered, which results in a purer oil that has a higher melting point. We use hydrogenated castor oil in all of our pomades and creams to perfect the texture, thickness, and malleability without drying out your hair.

Grapeseed
Grapeseed oil is a nutrient-rich oil with a wealth of benefits for your skin and hair. Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids delivered right to your scalp and roots can protect your hair from free radical damage, boost collagen production for stronger follicles and healthier growth, and soothe the skin to prevent inflammation and breakouts. It’s important to use cold-pressed or expeller-pressed grapeseed oil for your hair products because other types of processing can strip the nutrients like vitamin E from the oil.
The antioxidants in grapeseed oil are the most powerful natural antioxidants available. Free radicals, the spastic electrons leftover after oxidation, move through your body and damage tissues. Without adequate antioxidant levels, you might experience premature aging of your skin, hair, and other tissues.
